Energent Releases EnergentDR Demand Response Solution

Waterloo, ON, 5-June-07 - Energent (www.energent.com) announced today the release of their new EnergentDR demand response solution, which allows industrial end-users to save money and earn money by participating in demand response opportunities in the province of Ontario.

Demand response is a demand management solution which involves end-users curtailing their load on the public electricity grid in response to situations of peak electricity demand. Curtailment is done by postponing production to a later time, eliminating production altogether, or generating their own electricity using natural gas fuelled generators.

EnergentDR provides participating clients access to a new revenue stream. End-users save money by purchasing electricity from the public grid only when the price is low. In addition, they receive compensation for participation in the demand response opportunity.

To enable participation in demand response opportunities, EnergentDR provides an interface between the client and the Ontario Power Authority (OPA). Energent handles all the administrative activities required for the client to participate. Clients simply accept or decline an opportunity after being notified electronically, take the appropriate action to eliminate their load, and cash a cheque at the end of each month.

The release of EnergentDR follows the successful completion of a pilot implementation project which engaged Kuntz Electroplating Inc (www.kuntz.com) - a large full-service metal finisher located in Kitchener, Ontario - with demand response opportunities provided by the OPA. During the four month pilot, Kuntz Electroplating realized $112,000 or 14% electrical energy savings through the EnergentDR solution.
