This week, the US Government announced the Green Button Initiative with the hopes that millions of home owners will be able to monitor and control their home utility bills through the web and smartphone apps.

According to the Brookings Institute, the clean technology industry is larger than the fossil fuel industry in North America. The clean technology economy employs approximately 2.7 million workers and grew at an annual rate of 3.4% between 2003 & 2011, and significantly outperformed the general economy during the recession. Most of the job growth is in upcoming industries such as solar PV, battery technologies, wind, and smart grid.
